Orifice Plate Gaskets

Ultrapharma offers a wide range of Orifice Plate gaskets, used to alter flow patterns in critical systems. Orifice plates are made in 316L stainless steel and are standard electro-polished. Standard plates are delivered without holes. An orifice plate is a thin plate with a hole in it, which is usually placed in a pipe.  When a fluid passes through the orifice, its pressure builds up slightly upstream of the orifice, but as the fluid is forced to pass through the hole, the velocity increases and the fluid pressure decreases downstream. Each Orifice plate has a high-performance gasket made out of one of the validated compounds that we use for our standard Sanitary Gaskets range.

Precision flow control for critical process systems

Orifice Plates play an essential role in controlling and monitoring flow within pharmaceutical process systems. Manufactured from electropolished 316L stainless steel and combined with Ultrapharma’s validated gasket compounds, they provide a reliable and hygienic solution for applications where accuracy, process integrity and repeatability are essential.

Customers can choose from EPDM, FKM, Platinum Silicone, PTFE and Steam-Flon® gasket materials, allowing each solution to be tailored to the specific process requirements. Pre-drilled holes, eccentric designs and custom configurations are also available to optimize flow characteristics and simplify installation.

Orifice Plates with bonded gasket

The standard Orifice plates with elastomer gaskets are normally bonded to the plate. This means that when the gasket fails the complete unit needs to be replaced. We also offer a removable slit gasket, which makes it easier to machine holes in the plate. It helps to avoid contamination of the gasket when machining takes place.

We offer a drilling service if plates need to be supplied with holes. Holes can be positioned in the centre or eccentric for self-draining capabilities.

Orifice Plates with tab

Tabs are a helpful feature to visualize the presence of an orifice plate “in line” easy to recognize from the outside. Text can be laser engraved on the tab indicating hole size for example. The tab is very useful when positioning a plate with an eccentric self-draining hole.

We always drill the hole opposite the tab, so the tab always points up.

Vertical Orifice Plates

Innovation is the conical plates used in vertical pipelines. A flat plate in a vertical pipeline placed horizontally is not self-draining, a conical plate pointing downwards is self-draining. These are supplied with a removable elastomer slit gasket. The PTFE is moulded and the Steam-Flon is available moulded and removable.
